Testing spamfilter for OpenNTF Mail Experience
I'm currently testing a new Notes mail add-on spam filter and it looks very promising.
It is developed by Peter Smith of IONET and it works like this:
1) Mail from an unkown address is stored in a (hidden) view
2) A reply is sent to the address asking them to confirm their address by replying to the mail
3) After the reply is delivered (to the inbox) and the user marks (the reply) as valid, the original mail is being restored in the inbox and the address is added to the whitelist
Additional features to get started with a fully populated whitelist:
- Import functionality from your local address book
- Import funcitonality from all the addresses of mails in your mail file (don't forget to clean up first)
- All addresses sent to are automatically added to the whitelist.
This spam filter will probably be incorporated (and configurable) in the next OpenNTF Mail Experience release.
Stay tuned :).
