Weird 8.0.1 Basic and Standard error

While putting the new mPortal 4.4 on OpenNTF (another great release, check out the live demo), I was suddenly confronted with two Notes interfaces of the same release: The Basic and the Standard version.
You can see the progressbar on both indicating the copying of the template to the server.
I still prefer the old style progress bar, if only to see the progress.....

Philips: Connect Mail performance ()

Dear Colleague,

Connect Mail users have been facing major e-mail performance issues in the last few days. Philips IT is fully aware of the impact this might be having as mail is a critical business application. Our service provider, HP, has set up a special crisis team which is working around the clock together with Microsoft to solve this as soon as possible. Please try and use webmail if you experience issues with the Outlook Client. This has proven to be an alternative to many users.

Philips IT Communication

Philips migrated their mail environment to a hosted Exchange environment recently because..... because...., well someone must have thought it was a good idea ;)
Anyway, as we all know every change is not an improvement, all improvement is a change and that is exactly the problem with their current environment. It has a lot of the 'old' flaws (bad performance due to network problems) and introduced a whole set of new ones.
The biggest problem will be to find a scapegoat since pointing fingers to IBM/Lotus will not cut it this time.

And no I am not affiliated with Philips in any way, just an interested observer.

Notes 8.5M1 on Mac

'Finally' found time to upgrade at least the client from Beta to Milestone 1.

So far it behaves better than the beta, for example there is no additional Eclipse icon on the dock anymore and the 'startup' icon can be used to set focus to the client.
Really looking forward to install the server and Designer client tomorrow (not on the Mac though) ;)

SMTP Error 250

A client running 7.0.3 gets this 'error' (technically 250 isn't an error code at all) trying to mail to a specific address, so I guess it's related to the receiving mail server (Sendmail 8.9.3/8.9.3).

SMTP Protocol returned a Permanent Error: 250, <name@domain.com> Recipient ok
I know I have seen it before, but I can't remember what we did to solve it.
